Emotional Resolution

Find Emotional Well-Being

Emotional difficulties are not always visible from the outside. A person may function well in daily life—working, caring for others, maintaining relationships—while still experiencing recurring anxiety, fears, phobias, anger, or other emotional patterns that can feel difficult to change.

These reactions are not necessarily signs that something is consciously wrong in the present moment. The brain and body continuously draw on previous experience to anticipate what is happening and prepare an appropriate response. At times, this predictive process can produce an emotional reaction that no longer corresponds to the reality of the present situation. We may know intellectually that there is no reason to feel afraid, anxious, angry, or overwhelmed, yet the reaction arises automatically.

Emotional Resolution® (EmRes®) is a somatic approach designed to work directly with these recurring emotional patterns. Rather than analyzing the story behind an emotion, attempting to control it, or replacing it with a more positive thought, EmRes uses the physical sensations that naturally arise during an emotional response as the pathway toward resolution.

Through a process we call Viscero-Somatic Quieting™, attention is gently directed toward these internal bodily sensations without trying to interpret, modify, or control them. When the process unfolds naturally, the sensations change and subside, and the emotional response associated with them can lose its automatic intensity.

At the Emotional Health Institute, our work is based on a simple premise: the human organism has an innate capacity for emotional resolution. EmRes provides a structured way to access and support that capacity.
